"And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence." - Bertrand RussellI love Christians. I am a Christian myself and no matter how many denominations we may have we, all praise the same God. I am a Catholic Christian. There is no need to pass judgment on each other or to imagine that heaven has categories for those who are more Christian than others. I must also admit that I have views which I hold today . . . Apparently a week ago or there about, US troops based in Afghanistan/CIA agents (depending on which report you read) in cohorts with their Afghan counterparts, attacked and killed execution style, eleven school children including an 11 year old boy, in a raid for Al Qaeda. I don’t want to torture you with the horrid details of how they went about doing this, See here and here. A couple of days later, a Taliban suicide bomber who was used as a double-agent detonated himself in a group meeting of . . . Continue reading this article

Let me start by apologising to the blog readers who are not on facebook, especially those who do not even have access to the internet (yes, it is printed by their acquintances and brought to them in hardcopy). This is the 2nd successive post related to facebook. I promise to write about something else other than facebook on my next post, in less than a week.I have had some friends opine that I am likely to be a facebook addict. This is despite the fact that my facebook status updates and comments . . . Continue reading this article

I often envy the snake queues to the ATM on paydays. I still wish to know what attracts people to the ATM instead of paying by card at the Pick n Pay till and do a withdrawal there which is much cheaper than withdrawing the money at the ATM. I also haven't been to my bank branch in more than 3 years. I do most of my banking on the internet and my cellphone which much cheaper both in costs and in time wasted. Thieves also have less cash to take from you when you're not carrying it.I do not even own . . . Continue reading this article

After a very long time busy with other things, I eventually visited the Vodacom 4 me website yesterday to check on my data bundle balance and the expiry date. My interest on this was restored by that my 3G modem has not been in use for the past 3-4 weeks because of a technical problem. While surfing through the site, I discovered that my personal cellphone contract was due for upgrade on 17 August 2009. I had been looking forward to it anxiously earlier in the year, but it slipped my mind while I . . . Continue reading this article

My acquaintances have recently written on related subjects. Mr Joe Phadima wrote about the agony he had to endure in a high school reunion recently. Mr Sandile Memela wrote about how a friend of his had complained about the agony of socializing with people who are in the middle class in South Africa. I am a patient man, but I am losing patience with how some of my acquaintances are alienating me while trying to network with me. I don't disagree with my big-headed friend who put it to me that I am . . . Continue reading this article

Dear friend/colleagueThank you for the email. The content was inspirational and touching.Your email would have made an even better reading had you omitted the part that coerces me to forward it. Unfortunately, I have more rational and serious emails to read and I won't be able to forward it to my email contacts as you suggested. I did not have time to go through you entire gibberish. I understand it to be an element of hypocrisy to pretend that my friends will have a better fortune simply by forwarding . . . Continue reading this article

Before today, I would have accepted being labelled as an Obama critic. When Obama won the US election, I was one of the few people I know who viewed the celebrations of those who could not hold themselves as extremely exaggerated. At the time of the Obama victory, my view was that the changes in government in the US had never fundamentally altered their posture in international relations. The umbilical cord between the US and Israel took precedence above multiple multilateral decisions of the UN . . . Continue reading this article

Beyond academic criteria, SRC’s should co-exist within and be influenced by the broader liberation movement in advancing the National Democratic Revolution to its ideological conclusions (a response to Prof. Chris de Beer, Student Affairs Vice-Principal at the University of Free State, City Press 20 April 2009) The insistence on the significance of our history has always been part of incisive revolutionary inspiration for it continues to afford the logical and dialectical content to our course . . .
